She may have left the White House in 2017 but her star keeps shinning and we are here for it. More than 18,000 people are reported to have filled the Tacoma Dome on Sunday night to hear Former first lady Michelle Obama talk about her memoir “Becoming.” The event to promote her book, was originally planned for Feb. 8 but was rescheduled due to severe snowfall in the Seattle area in early February.

Host of the evening and interviewer, Jimmy Kimmel announced that Tacoma, the 3rd largest city in Washington, brought in the largest crowd yet of her 31-stop book tour.

Obama and Kimmel chatted about how life has changed for the Obamas since they left the White House, her childhood growing up on the south side of Chicago, how she learned to chase joy rather than status and the tumultuous state of America. To wrap up the evening, Obama detailed ways to become a better self and culture the world needs: Find and value the story in you, be brave enough to put your story out there, practice every day the person you want to become, and vote while using every emotion to fuel your power at the polls.
