Reginald Abraham Mengi, was a Tanzanian billionaire, businessman and an author who died today at the age of 75 in Dubai.
While many are interested in his financial accomplishments (and rightly so), the man had a fascinating love life. Reginald at his death had been blessed with 5 children, with two being from his last marriage to a former Miss Tanzania.
Her name was Jacqueline Ntuyabaliwe or K Lynn for those who knew her from her musical days. Jacqueline was 36 years younger than Reginald and had a slew of hits back in the early 2000s like; ‘Crazy Over You’ and ‘Nalia Kwa Furaha’.
According to the businessman in an interview with Citizen T.V last year, the two met during a concert in the United Kingdom in 2010.
He immediately made his intentions known to her but she resisted his overtures. He even related how he had tried to invite her over to London while she was in Birmingham but Jacqueline declined his request.
Several months later, when both were in Tanzania, she finally relented and agreed to his proposal. This began a fabulous love story for those who believe in Disney romances like that.
They eventually tied the knot in a lavish ceremony held in Mauritius on March 28, 2015. Mengi did not have any regrets about marrying the pretty woman and gave her glowing praise during the same Citizen T.V interview. He said:
She loves me so much; she cooks, washes my clothes with her own hands and not a machine; she respects and knows my position as a man and husband. She also knows her position as a woman and wife.
On her 39th birthday last year, the magnate even wrote:
My love, my darling wife, my best friend, the holder of the key to my life, it is always “better late than never” Happy Birthday my Baby. Thank you for giving me a reason to live. I love you crazy.
And the love was not entirely one-sided as the mother of his two sons responded with her own assurance of her undying love for him.
Even right before his death Mengi was still enamoured with Jacqueline and wrote a message that will cause most romantics to shed a tear. He wrote:
Our wedding, or our marriage was a match made in heaven, that’s why it’s so special. If God was to call us today, I would ask God for permission, to see if it’s possible for me to marry her in heaven. So that forever and ever she will be my wife.
They had twin sons together.
