Never have the words You’ll Never Walk Alone sounded so good as it did on Saturday evening when Leading global payments Technology Company and UEFA Champions League sponsor, Mastercard, hosted partners, sports legends and other personalities at an exclusive viewing of the UEFA Champions League final match between Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hot Spur FC. The Reds beat Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid thanks to an early Mohamed Salah penalty and a late Divock Origi strike.
Over 200 Mastercard partners were present at the Trademark hotel in Gigiri to watch the two finalists battle for the championship in the final match of the season, in what many dubbed as an all Kenyan Finals Affairs and it truly lived up to its name, with Belgian striker with Kenyan roots, Divock Origi scoring the goal that brought the cup that sealed the night.
Also present to enjoy the live football action was football legend from Nigeria Daniel Amokachi, Kenya’s first female professional footballer Doreen Nabwire and renowned sports presenter Chiko Lawi who moderated the pre and post-match analysis. Commenting on the game, Football legend Daniel Amokachi, said it was “This is was an unprecedented final match but nonetheless a magical game.. I believe that each team presented its best and Liverpool had the play this evening”.
