In a past church meeting, Ruto gave a moving speech about courting his wife Rachel. He would invite her to Ngando, Dagoretti, where he lived.

Ruto also revealed that their first born child, Nick was born there.

I used to pay rent for Sh1,750. We started out In Dagoretti. I courted my wife, Rachel while living here.

Anyhow, in a past public appearance, Rachel advised women to respect their husbands for the sake of peace in the marriage.

“My fellow women love your husbands. Don’t disrespect them, don’t fight them. The world is already harsh to them; when they come home, you should give them a peace of mind. Start calling him appealing names like ‘sweetheart’, ‘honey’; even if he had made you angry.

I know sometimes they (men) can get on our nerves. Nonetheless, we should love them for peace to prevail. When you are living in harmony with your partner, your life will be less stressful. What is this model of family structure called ‘single mother’? To me, there is nothing like a single mother. Smile charmingly, and you will find your Mr Right. Women, let us love each other. We should not despise one another. We should not perceive other women as less helpful. Let us accommodate each other. We can make money if we are united. I urge women to form groups such as table-banking. It will go a long way in solving financial problems facing women.”

Said Rachel. Do you agree with her sentiments?
