Celebrated Nigerian singer Augustine Kelechi, popularly known by his stage name Tekno has revealed damage to his vocal cords almost left him broke.
Tekno, who lost his voice months ago, says that at some point he had to make the difficult decision of turning down shows for the sake of his voice.
“Three weeks after my throat surgery, I had a show in Cameroon.
it was either I go and perform in Cameroon first or I do the surgery first.

I chose going to Cameroon because, at that time there was no money.
I already blew through everything so I needed that Cameroon show because that show was paying me $110,000 (11,375,100) for that weekend.
I was however scared.
This is because If I went ahead and performed during the Cameroon show with an already irritated voice just because I needed money to balance my bills, I would end up going back to where I started.

He says that for four months he could not perform.
