Secular artiste Nadia Mukami has in an exclusive interview with Mpasho said that she used to be a sales girl before she became well known.

Before venturing into music I used to sell phones and I also did other promotional jobs on Moi Avenue. I sold credit cards and was also a salesperson for shoes. I am a very good sales person that is why I am able to sell my music.

She added that at some point a person she worked with told her she could never be a celeb as she did not have hips nor the body for it.

In the past secular artiste Vivian had also said that she used to hawk stuff to make ends meet.

She said,

I have done a lot of activation’s for companies and supermarkets. I also sold cutlery on the streets I did it once and I sold everything that day. I was working for a company that paid very little commission. That is one thing that discouraged me otherwise I have always been aggressive.

She added that doing such jobs humbles you.

Its difficult you really have to humble yourself. I had studied marketing but I had to settle for that job. I decided to try and see what comes out of it. It’s important to embrace opportunities.
